USA Today notes St. George as fastest growing Metro area

A recent article by USA Today finds St. George, UT as the fastest growing metro area in the U.S. according to the U.S. Census Bureau.

According to the Census Bureau the population of Washington County increased 4% from 2016 to 2017. St. George was previously ranked the 6th fastest growing metro area in 2016 with a 3.1% growth rate, but in 2017 it took the #1 spot.

According to estimates done by the Utah Governor’s Office of Management and Budget, the population of Washington County is estimated to reach 500,000 somewhere between 2050-2060. St. George itself is estimated to grow to approximately 300,000 by 2050-2060, meaning a majority of the growth will take place within the city of St. George.

For Washington County this represents 20% – 30% growth every 10 years. During this time you can expect the appraised values of homes to increase as builders try to keep up with the demand for new housing. Housing prices have already been on the rise, with entry level housing seeing the largest increases in value.
